Sightseeing Spots in Charleston, SC

Sightseeing Spots in Charleston, SC

"Sightseeing" is an interesting word.
People tend to use it to mean superficial browsing of the more famous landmarks and vistas about a particular place.  I think that sells the activity a little short.
We adopted Sightsee for our shop's name because it suggests discover and exploration rather than staying within one's comfort zone. To us, it means to really get to know a new place.  We want to get out and truly see places for ourselves, not just through the lens of the visitor's bureau or cruise ship itinerary.
When it comes to Charleston, there are certainly more than a few famous landmarks and vistas.  It's the No. 1 City in the World after all.... If you're looking to check things off, just about any list is going to include:
  • Whitepoint Garden
  • Fort Sumter
  • Rainbow Row
  • King Street
  • The City Market
  • USS Yorktown
  • Sullivan's Island
  • Folly Beach
  • Angel Oak
Nothing against those places by any means.  They are sights that deserve to be seen.
If you want to see a little more of Charleston as we experience it, though, here's a little map to help find your way around a mix of shops, cafes, landmarks, and parks to explore.
